Ethical Guidelines for Journal Publication

JIECAR – Islamic Education Contemporary and Applied Research is committed to maintaining high standards of publication ethics and academic integrity. The journal follows ethical principles for all parties involved in the publication process, including authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher.

JIECAR is committed to ensuring that editorial decisions are based solely on the academic quality, originality, relevance, and validity of manuscripts. Editorial decisions are not influenced by commercial interests, personal relationships, or other inappropriate considerations.

The journal follows internationally recognized principles of publication ethics, including the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) Core Practices. All authors, editors, and reviewers are expected to uphold these standards throughout the submission, review, and publication processes.

1. Publication Decisions

The Editor-in-Chief and editorial team are responsible for deciding which manuscripts are accepted for publication. Decisions are based on the manuscript's academic quality, originality, methodological soundness, relevance to the focus and scope of JIECAR, and significance to the field of Islamic education and related educational research.

Editors may consult reviewers or other members of the editorial board when making publication decisions. Manuscripts must also comply with applicable requirements concerning plagiarism, copyright, and academic integrity.

2. Fair and Unbiased Review

Manuscripts are evaluated based on their academic and intellectual content without discrimination based on the author's gender, ethnicity, nationality, institutional affiliation, religious background, political views, or other personal characteristics.

3. Confidentiality

Editors and editorial staff must maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts. Information concerning a manuscript may only be disclosed to the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, editorial advisers, or the publisher when necessary for the publication process.

4. Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Editors and editorial staff must not use unpublished information or materials contained in submitted manuscripts for their own research or personal benefit without the author's written permission.

Editors and reviewers must disclose any potential conflict of interest and should not participate in the review or decision-making process when such a conflict may affect their objectivity.

Duties of Reviewers

1. Contribution to Editorial Decisions

Peer review assists editors in making informed publication decisions and provides authors with constructive feedback to improve the quality of their manuscripts.

2. Promptness

Reviewers should complete their reviews within the timeframe specified by the journal. Reviewers who are not qualified to evaluate a manuscript or cannot complete the review within the required period should promptly notify the editor and decline the review invitation.

3. Confidentiality

Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. Reviewers must not share, copy, distribute, or discuss manuscripts with other parties without authorization from the editor.

4. Objectivity

Reviews must be conducted objectively and professionally. Reviewers should provide clear, constructive, and evidence-based comments. Personal criticism of authors is not acceptable.

5. Acknowledgment of Sources

Reviewers should identify relevant published works that have not been cited by the authors. Reviewers should also inform the editor if they identify substantial similarities between the manuscript under review and previously published works.

6. Conflict of Interest

Reviewers must not review manuscripts in which they have a personal, professional, academic, financial, or other conflict of interest with the authors, institutions, or research involved.

Duties of Authors

1. Reporting Standards

Authors must present their research accurately and objectively. Research methods, data, results, and interpretations must be reported transparently and honestly. Fabrication, falsification, or manipulation of research data is strictly prohibited.

2. Originality and Plagiarism

Authors must submit original work and properly acknowledge all ideas, statements, data, and materials obtained from other sources. Plagiarism, including inappropriate paraphrasing and unattributed use of others' work, is not acceptable.

All manuscripts are subject to a similarity check before publication.

3. Multiple or Concurrent Publication

Authors must not submit the same manuscript simultaneously to more than one journal. Manuscripts describing substantially the same research should not be published in multiple journals without legitimate justification and appropriate disclosure.

4. Acknowledgment of Sources

Authors must properly cite all sources that significantly contributed to their research. References must accurately reflect the sources used in the manuscript.

5. Authorship

Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made significant contributions to the conception, design, execution, analysis, or interpretation of the research.

All listed authors must have:

  • made a substantial contribution to the research;
  • participated in drafting or critically revising the manuscript;
  • approved the final version; and
  • agreed to be responsible for the content of the article.

Individuals who do not meet authorship criteria but contributed to the research may be appropriately acknowledged.

6. Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest

Authors must disclose any financial, professional, institutional, or personal interests that could potentially influence the research findings or their interpretation.

Authors must also disclose the sources of financial or institutional support for the research, when applicable.

7. Research Ethics

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their research complies with applicable research ethics standards. Where research involves human participants, authors should obtain appropriate ethical approval or informed consent when required by applicable regulations and institutional policies.

8. Corrections and Retractions

If authors discover a significant error or inaccuracy in their published article, they must promptly notify the JIECAR editorial team and cooperate in correcting or, when necessary, retracting the article.

JIECAR reserves the right to publish corrections, retractions, or editorial notices when significant errors, plagiarism, research misconduct, or other ethical violations are identified after publication.
