Plagiarism Policy

JIECAR is committed to maintaining academic integrity and applies a strict policy against plagiarism, duplicate publication, and other forms of academic misconduct. All manuscripts submitted to JIECAR must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration by another journal.

Plagiarism is the use of another person's ideas, words, data, or work without appropriate acknowledgment and presenting them as one's own. Authors must properly cite all sources used in their manuscripts. Direct quotations must be clearly identified using quotation marks or appropriate formatting and accompanied by the relevant citation.

All submitted manuscripts are subject to a similarity check using Turnitin or an equivalent plagiarism detection system before being sent for peer review. The similarity report is evaluated by the editorial team, and the similarity percentage is not used as the sole basis for determining plagiarism.

JIECAR applies the following editorial actions:

  • Similarity above 40%: The manuscript will normally be rejected because of excessive similarity. The manuscript will not be considered for resubmission.
  • Similarity between 20% and 40%: The manuscript will be returned to the author for revision. Authors must properly cite the relevant sources and improve the paraphrasing of similar passages.
  • Similarity below 20%: The manuscript may proceed to the editorial and peer-review process, subject to the editorial team's assessment of the similarity report and the quality of citations and paraphrasing.

Authors whose manuscripts require revision must ensure that all borrowed ideas, statements, data, and materials are properly acknowledged and cited. A revised manuscript may be checked again before proceeding to peer review or publication.

Important: A low similarity score does not automatically guarantee that a manuscript is free from plagiarism, and a higher similarity score does not necessarily constitute plagiarism. The final determination is made by the JIECAR editorial team based on the similarity report, the context of the matched text, citation practices, and applicable academic integrity standards.
